How to Set Up Exchange Fees

Tickets can be exchanged in one of two ways: internally by your staff or online by patrons.

If you want to charge exchange fees by default, you can set up exchange fees for both internal and online exchanges.

Setting up the Default Exchange Fee

If you don't want to charge an exchange fee by default, you can still manually add an Exchange Fee during each exchange!

The Default Exchange Fee can be updated from PatronTicket Settings!

1. From the PatronTicket Hub, click PatronTicket Settings

You can also get here from the App Launcher, if you wish.

2. Click Edit

3. Scroll down to find "Default Exchange Fee"

4. Set the amount you wish to charge as a default fee for internal exchanges

This amount will be charged per exchange.

5. Scroll up and Save

Nice work! Now the Default Exchange Fee will appear when exchanging tickets

Setting up the Self-Service Exchange Fee

The Self-Service Exchange Fee can be updated from PatronTicket Settings!

1. From the PatronTicket Hub, click PatronTicket Settings

2. Click Edit

3. Scroll down to find "Self-Service Exchange Fee"

4. Set the amount you wish to charge as a fee for self-service exchanges

This amount will be charged per exchange.

5. Scroll up and Save

Nice work! Now the Self-Service Exchange Fee will charge when patrons exchange tickets online

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Expand or collapse content Is the Default Exchange Fee / Self-Service Exchange Fee charged per order or per ticket?

Both the Default Exchange Fee and Self-Service Exchange Fee are charged per exchange transaction.

This means that if you internally process an exchange for two tickets at one time, the Default Exchange Fee will apply. If you process an exchange for one ticket and then later for another ticket, the Default Exchange Fee will apply once for each exchange.

Absolutely! If you don't wish to charge the Exchange Fee during an exchange, clear out the Exchange Fee field or set it to "0.00" when processing the exchange.

Yes! To do so, make sure to check the "Waive Self-Service Exchange Fee" box on the Event Instances that you wish to exclude from the Self-Service Exchange Fee.

Manually, yes! If you want the Exchange Fee to be higher for certain exchanges, such as exchanging tickets the day-of an event, users can manually update the Exchange Fee field when processing the exchange.

If you'd like the ability to set conditional Default Exchange Fees, make sure to submit a Product Idea!

Not at this time. If you'd like the ability to set Self-Service Exchange Fees on a Ticketable Event or Event Instance level, make sure to submit a Product Idea!

Yup! Just follow these steps again to update your Default Exchange Fee.

For example, for your holiday season or popular summer season, you may wish to make the Default Exchange Fee higher than it is the rest of the year.

Yup! Just follow these steps again to update your Self-Service Exchange Fee.

For example, if you wish to incentivize self-service exchanges to reduce your staff's load, you might lower your Self-Service Exchange Fee.
